Renaker Hasselman Scott LLP handles all types of employee benefits matters for employees, retirees, and participants and beneficiaries in employee benefit plans sponsored by private employers. Most employee benefits provided by companies are governed by the Employee Retirement Income Security Act of 1974 (“ERISA”), and the attorneys at Renaker Hasselman Scott LLP have decades of experience with all facets of ERISA. We handle both individual cases and class actions.

We can help if you have a concern about your or a loved one’s employee benefits, including pension, 401(k) accounts, survivor benefits, Employee Stock Ownership Plan (“ESOP”) benefits, medical benefits, disability insurance, life or accident insurance, vacation or sick pay, and stock options. We assist individuals in filing claims for benefits, appealing denials of benefits by the administrator or insurer, and litigating when necessary.

We investigate and litigate cases concerning mismanagement, fraud, and breaches of fiduciary duty by plan administrators, whom the law requires to manage benefit plans in the interests of the participants and beneficiaries. Relatedly, we represent plan participants and fiduciaries in benefit plan service provider malpractice actions. We also litigate issues relating to ERISA’s preemption of state law.
